AFRINVEST PROJECT: COMBATING POVERTY IN AFRICA.

Recent statistics show today that within the Sub-Saharan regions of Africa, 45 – 50% of people live below the poverty line, while about 300 million people in Africa are living in extreme poverty. This therefore becomes a paradox, considering the wealth of natural resources accorded the continent of Africa, yet is being regarded as the continent with the highest poverty rating across the globe, according to World Bank’s Chief  economist for Africa; Shanta Devaragan.

Consider the following facts concerning African poverty:

·         45 – 50% of people live below the poverty line

·         300 million people in Africa are living in extreme poverty

·         40% of Africans in poverty live on less than 1USD a day

·         800 million people go to bed hungry every day

·         18,000 people in West Africa are on the verge of starvation.

Considering all these factual case studies as touching the African community, it becomes glaring that we need to do something as fast as possible in order not to make this trend go beyond this stage. To this end therefore, our MODEL has also prepared an operational plan with the leverage of our network system that will eventually combat the poverty siege that has taken its toll amongst African nations.
